We get asked all of the time, "When should I book my newborn photography session?" It's a great question and the answer is it's never too early! We suggest booking your professional newborn session at the beginning of your third trimester. Of course, we are not booking your actual session date because we know that babies come when they want to! This booking will get you on the calendar and guarantee that you will get a session date within the first two weeks after your baby's birth. Coming into the Greensboro studio within the first two weeks is important. During those early days, babies are still very flexible, curly, womb-like, and can easily form into those sweet poses that you see in newborn images. They also sleep more in those first two weeks and their sleep is more predictable during this time. With that being said, even though it is "ideal" to photograph a newborn between 5 and 14 days old, that doesn't mean that you can't get adorable newborn images after that time frame. We CAN and we DO! After two weeks, babies tend to be awake more and wake easier during transitions so we may capture more awake images and not as many sleepy, curly images. We know just how quickly babies change, and although we prefer for families to book the newborn session before the baby arrives, we certainly understand there are circumstances when you can't. Not to worry! Your ...
I haven't blogged in forever, but I figured there was no better time than now to start again and give you an update about my photography studio.Life has a way of throwing curveballs, and the start of this year has been a testament to that. As many of you know, I recently moved my Greensboro, NC, Newborn photography studio to a new location, but the journey to get here wasn't easy, and it was filled with unexpected challenges.Change is never easy, and the journey to moving my photography studio to a new location has been anything but smooth. But it’s also been a story of resilience, hope, and excitement for the future. It all began when I found out my landlord was selling the building I was in. With no other option but to relocate, I started the challenging process of finding a new studio space. After months of searching, I finally found a wonderful place—but the move wasn’t as easy as I had hoped.Packing up a studio is no small task. I spent long days and nights sorting through equipment, props, and countless memories. It was a huge undertaking, especially since I was downsizing. I am so honored that I recently had two prints accepted into the General Collection of Professional Photographers of America's 2016 International Photographic Competition. Both pieces will be on display at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, TX, Jan. 8-10, 2017 at an exhibition held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention for professional photographers, as well as traveling and special invitational displays. A panel of 46 eminent jurors from across the United States selected the top photographs from nearly 5,700 total submitted entries at Gwinnett Technical College in Georgia. Judged against a standard of excellence, just over 2,428 images were selected for the General Collection. This was my very first print competition of any kind, so I was thrilled to have prints score high enough to be accepted in the collection!
Throw Back Thursday to learning how to sit unassisted, rolling over and tummy time! Check out the sweet sugar drool that rolled out during tummy time!
This Throw Back Thursday brings you sweet Porter and his First birthday. Porter came to the Greensboro studio for his One Year portrait session and Cake Smash. He was such a happy boy and gave us a TON of smiles as you can tell from the images. He had several special outfits to wear that his big brother Isaac had worn when he was the same age. The cake smash was a big hit with Porter. He LOVED playing in the icing, squishing it between his fingers, putting it on the balloons, and eating it too! He dug right in and had a blast demolishing the cake.
