A Grateful Pause After Christmas: Reflecting on a Year of Change and Support This past year brought a studio move, unexpected challenges, and moments that tested our family in ways we didn’t anticipate. This post is a quiet thank-you — and a reflection on community, gratitude, and what’s ahead as we step into a new year. Now that Christmas has passed and things have slowed down just a bit, I wanted to pause and reflect — and most of all, say thank you. This past year has been a lot. A studio move, unexpected challenges, and some really difficult moments for our family asked more of us than we ever anticipated. Some seasons felt heavy and uncertain, and moments that stretched us in ways we didn’t see coming. And through all of it, you showed up.A Year of Support I’ll Never ForgetYou continued to trust me with your families and your stories. We get asked all of the time, "When should I book my newborn photography session?" It's a great question and the answer is it's never too early! We suggest booking your professional newborn session at the beginning of your third trimester. Of course, we are not booking your actual session date because we know that babies come when they want to! This booking will get you on the calendar and guarantee that you will get a session date within the first two weeks after your baby's birth. Coming into the Greensboro studio within the first two weeks is important. During those early days, babies are still very flexible, curly, womb-like, and can easily form into those sweet poses that you see in newborn images. They also sleep more in those first two weeks and their sleep is more predictable during this time. With that being said, even though it is "ideal" to photograph a newborn between 5 and 14 days old, that doesn't mean that you can't get adorable newborn images after that time frame. We CAN and we DO! After two weeks, babies tend to be awake more and wake easier during transitions so we may capture more awake images and not as many sleepy, curly images. We know just how quickly babies change, and although we prefer for families to book the newborn session before the baby arrives, we certainly understand there are circumstances when you can't. Not to worry! Your ...

I am so honored that I recently had two prints accepted into the General Collection of Professional Photographers of America's 2016 International Photographic Competition. Both pieces will be on display at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, TX, Jan. 8-10, 2017 at an exhibition held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention for professional photographers, as well as traveling and special invitational displays. A panel of 46 eminent jurors from across the United States selected the top photographs from nearly 5,700 total submitted entries at Gwinnett Technical College in Georgia. Judged against a standard of excellence, just over 2,428 images were selected for the General Collection. This was my very first print competition of any kind, so I was thrilled to have prints score high enough to be accepted in the collection!
